Christmas is a manic time for everyone – with present buying, wrapping and putting up the decorations, the home sometimes gets no thought at all and just adds to the stress!
With our simple tips on getting your home prepared for the Christmas holidays, we guarantee that the festive season will be a doddle!
Get the guest rooms prepared
You’ll no doubt have friends or family coming to stay with you during the festive season so it’s important to prepare the guest room. With guest rooms not being used a lot during the year, to give it a refresh is vital to making your loved ones feel at home and cosy.
Give the windows a wash, change the bedding and give the furniture a polish. A nice little additional touch you can add are fresh towels, some smellies and maybe a little festive gift of a pair of warm socks!
Sort those kitchen cupboards out!
Getting prepared for cooking the Christmas meal is vital. Putting your pots, pans and trays in order and within easy reaching distance will make your life so much easier on the day. Whilst you’re at it, clean out cupboards with a wet sponge and soapy water, throw away any out-of-date tins of food and anything you have no intention of eating. It’s a pain cleaning out cupboards but, on the day, you’ll really thank yourself!
Clean the oven
Oh, the chore to end all chores! But it doesn’t have to be that arduous… A shop-bought oven cleaner really takes the pain away. Follow the simple instructions and don some marigolds and it’ll be done before you know it!
Prepare the main hubs of the home
The hallway, living room, bathroom and dinning room are going to be used heavily during Christmas.
With mud and dirt being brought in during the winter, the holidays are a great time to bring out the carpet cleaner and get up all that dirt out of the hallway especially.
In your living room, give all the upholstery a clean, including the cushions. Decluttering and tidying as you go, your living room will feel welcoming and pleasant.
Cleaning your bathroom from top to bottom during the winter is vital as everyone always has a cold during Christmas! Also, to make it feel more comfortable for your staying guests, hide away as many of your own toiletries so they can make room for their own.
With your dining room table, give it a wax and get those place settings sorted. Put up some gorgeous Christmas decorations and enjoy your Yuletide dinner!
