Spring Cleaning Tips

It’s coming up to that time of year when we start thinking about having a deep Spring-clean of our homes.  Most don’t know where to start and some aren’t sure how to get rid of stubborn stains that have been annoying you for months! With our hints and tips on what to do, you’ll be raring to go!

Have a plan

Having a plan of attack for your Spring clean is the most effective way of getting stuff done. Think about what you should be doing for each room and make a checklist, ticking off items as you go. If you’ve done a recent clean of a room, skip those bits and clean the parts of the house you’re likely to forget or just don’t do often enough.

And don’t try to get all your list done in one day – spread it out over a few days, doing a few minutes here and there so you’re not wearing yourself out!

De-clutter

It’s amazing how much stuff we collect over the year– we all have that drawer in the kitchen that has the most random bits and bobs in it. De-cluttering is amazingly satisfying. It can take time but it’s well worth it. Organise your clutter into three categories – bin, give away (charity shop, family) or keep, this way, it’ll make the whole process a lot easier!

Clean those forgotten areas

We all like to think we do a good job when we do our normal house clean but there are areas that get forgotten. Wipe down those skirting boards, window sills, doors and get the feather duster out to clean those hard-to-reach areas such as the tops of cupboards, wardrobes, and light fixtures.

Cleaning windows, putting the curtains through the wash, and getting those carpets cleaned should form part of your Spring-cleaning list.

When it comes to your kitchen, your microwave can be sorted in a few minutes. Simply place a mug of water and sliced lemon in for 5 minutes, let it cool, and wipe down with a sponge, this will remove that tomato soup that exploded a few months ago! De-clutter your cupboards by getting rid of those out of date cans and clean with a sponge and warm water.

Next spring clean will be a walk in the park with your list and knowing how to clean those forgotten areas! Good luck.
